OMEN 30L Desktop - GT13-0280z CTO
Microsoft Windows 11

My HP Omen 30L was purchased in 2020. It comes with a Ryzen 7 3700X and RTX 2060 super. The mobo is a Moria 3 B450 mobo. Will I be able to install the newer Ryzen 7 7700? I know it is still based on the AM4 socket and the power usage is identical to my existing CPU (65w).

More background info: I hope to upgrade the  CPU, the fans, the air cooler, and the GPU. I hope keep the mobo, the SSD, and the HDD, at least for now.

Thanks

The chipset is only compatible up to the 5000 series, but this does not guarantee that you will be able to use it.

Does that mean if I go ahead and upgrade to the 5000 series the bios might not support it, even though physically it fits?

Exactly, it is a risk that only you should take.
