Omen 30l won't boot with 4 x 16 Go ram sticks at 3200 Mhz

Hi, I am trying to upgrade my Omen 30l (Bios F.13) up to 64 go ram with 4 X 16 go Kingston Fury Beast sticks at 3200 mhz. The pc boots fine with only two sticks plugged - the system recognize then 32 go ram at 3200 mhz - It also boots fine with the 4 sticks plugged but only when ram is running at 2400 mhz.

The problem occurs when I try to use the 4 sticks plugged at 3200 mhz - despite using the correct XMP settings in the bios -. It just keeps on rebooting without even leting me reach the bios. Any advice or trick to have the 4 x 16 go sticks running at 3200 mhz?

I tried again, swapping the sticks but same result, when I plug two of my four Kingston Fury Beast sticks (KF432C16BBAK2) in slots 1-3 OR 2-4 all is fine but when I plug them all at same time in the 4 slots 1-2-3-4 the Omen won't boot. Here are the bios settings, they seem fine. What in those settings may I change so that the Omen would boot with the 4 sticks plugged ?

Just a couple of questions:

Have you updated your BIOS to the latest/newest version?

Are the 4 x 16GB RAM sticks exactly the same?

Have you tried 2933MHz RAM speed?

Yes I updated my BIOS to the latest version ( F.13 for my motherboard ).

The 4 x 16GB RAM sticks are exactly the same ( Kingston Fury Beast 3200 Mhz, ref : 4F432C16BBAK ).

I didn't tried 2933 Mhz but I am going to try and let you know.

On the other side, on another forum someone had no problem to run the same ram as mine at 3200 Mhz but he had a 30L with Ryzen CPU, mine is an intel ( i9 11900K ).

Your issue is not an Intel i9-11900K, which is perfectly capable to run RAM at 3200 MHz or above.

I am not familiar with the BIOS options of your PC, but if your BIOS has the option to set RAM at a higher frequency, XMP Profile 1 has to be enabled. Enter BIOS and enable the DRAM profile in the setting for DOCP or XMP. This should allow your RAM to run at 3200 MHz with the correct timings and voltage.

One more thing.  Please check your RAM speed with the freeware program CPUz from here: CPU-Z | Softwares | CPUID.

CPUz shows your RAM speed by half.  For example:

1067 = 2133
1197 = 2400

1467 = 2933
1597 = 3200

So I just gave a try and using XMP Profile 2 at 2933 Mhz it works ! 64 Go at 1463 Mhz according to CPUz.

Still I fear running at 2933 Mhz instead of 3200 Mhz is a loss of performance, isn't' it ?

It is supposed to run at 3200 Mhz straight from the box but so far I had no chance with the XMP Profile 1 at 3200 Mhz, it used to keep on rebooting until I cut power.

My take is that at least you've moved up considerably from where you were before.

I don't think performance-wise you would notice much difference between 2933 and 3200 MHz, so I wouldn't be too concerned about this.

I happen to deal with a similar issue: my 4 x 8GB G.SKILL Ripjaws F4-2400C15D gaming RAM is running at 2133 instead of 2400 MHz, and there is no solution is sight.

What matters most performance wise and what is more gaming-limiting, is your processor -your i9-11900K is the fastest Intel 11th Gen Rocket Lake processor available, your GPU, and what you have as your primary drive -preferably an M.2 NVMe SSD.

Yes. I tried again at 3200 Mhz and it keeps on rebooting when the 4 sticks are plugged.

The only way to have it handle the 4 x 16 go is running the modules at 2933 Mhz.

I think you are right. I am already fine with my i9 11900K, my GPU is a RTX 3090 and I have two NVMe SSD ( I took advantage of a nice offer from the HP store. ).

My true concern should rather be the overheating of the 30l case that is not adapted to the power of my configuration.

I wish I had wait for the 45l case.
