I would like to upgrade the RAM on my Omen 870-255XT from the factory 16 GB. All the memory manufacturers, such as Corsair, say that this particular system is compatible with up to 64 Gb (4 x 16 Gb). Is this true? HP says this system was tested only to 32 Gb. Could I add 2 more 16 Gb cards to give it 48 Gb total on the system?
One other question, do I really have to remove the GEforce video card to install the new memory? The memory card tabs can’t be opened on one side since they are almost touching the bottom of the video card and can’t be opened. I just wanted to make sure I’m not overlooking something.
Thank you!

Yes, your OMEN By HP Desktop PC - 870-255xt (V9B26AA) is indeed compatible with up to 4 x 16GB of DDR4 PC4-19200, 2400 MHz, Non-ECC, Unbuffered, DIMM (UDIMM), 288-pin RAM sticks, though according to the specs, RAM speed is down throttled to 2133 MHz:
If access to your RAM slots is required, removing your graphics card shouldn't be that difficult.

Btw, the specs I referenced apply to a Thimphu-K motherboard (SSID: 2B4B).
I just happen to come across a different HP System OMEN by HP Desktop PC 870-2XX motherboard with SSID: 830C, where several Users installed specific RAM running at 2666 MHz, such as this User with 4 x 8GB of Micron 8ATF1G64AZ-2G6H1 RAM: https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/51788724.
And, interestingly, there is yet another HP System OMEN by HP Desktop PC 870-2XX motherboard with SSID: 82F1, where one User installed 2 x 16GB of Crucial CT16G4DFD832A.C16FP running at 3200 MHz: https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/55563866.
Please check your SSID ("BaseBoard Product") in System Information.

Thank you for the reply and the very helpful information. I do indeed have the first system motherboard you mentioned that seems compatible with the 64 Gb total capacity. It currently has 2 of the memory slots filled with 8 Gb cards to give the 16 Gb. Is there any problems with adding 2 more 16 Gb cards so it will total 48 Gb? I wasn’t sure if you’re able to mix 8 Gb and 16 Gb memory cards together without any problems.
Thank you again

Having 48 GB of total RAM is better than 16 GB.
I should point out that having identical RAM -same brand, model and capacity, provides the best possible RAM performance, including dual channel mode and running dual rank.
If you upgrade your RAM as you outlined, install the RAM as follows: start with slot 0 which is the one closest to your CPU: 16 / 8 /16 / 8.
