Omen 880-172na
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi guys and galls,

I've always OC'd my own hardware and I'm happy to do so when the BIOS is helpful and assists you with the process.

I have a HP Omen 880-172na with I7-8700k on the default Tampa motherboard and have installed Omen Command Center to see what it's all about.

I benched, overclocked and checked what it did in Intel XTU - really not impressed.

3 hours of  "Intelligent" overclock got me to 5GHz and double the boost timer, with 0 work on voltage. I have a 120mm AIO from EVGA with 2x Arctic P12 fans - no problem keeping it cool, but that OC is just not doable imho with the caps on the motherboard, I have no idea why the software tried to go so far.

Anyway.... I removed the OC, and now the PC is stuck in Power Boot to enable OC on the motherboard: You power it on, shuts down after 2 sec, then back on and working as normal (same for restart). I assume that's to load the OC settings in the mobo.

Anyone know how to remove that setting ? I reset defaults with XTU, and although CPU is back to factory default, still does it. Tried re-installing different chipset versions to reset it, nothing.
I removed the BIOS battery for 30 mins, reset my BIOS but still OC.

I....need help, it's really annoying and not safe for my 2x pumps for watercooling CPU and GPU.

Thanks.

Hi@Daitengu,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I reviewed your post and I understand that overclocking is not working on the Omen command center.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

Based on the specifications of your computer, I see that the overclocking feature is not supported on the computer. Please refer to the below article for more information.

However, I recommend you uninstall the Omen command center from the computer and then download and install it from the Microsoft store and check if it helps.
