The 500watt bronze power supply in my computer needs replaced.  It is HP part 918585-001.  What larger capacity power supplies are recommended that will have cables to reach the factory motherboard layout?

@Taigster , welcome back to the forum.

You should be able to use any standard ATX power supply unit (PSU).  The cables should reach all of the connectors without any problems.  I like corsair products.  A full modular PSU is good in smaller mid-size cases.  They allow you to use only the cables that are absolutely necessary.  Here is one that should work for you: https://www.newegg.com/corsair-rm-series-rm650-cp-9020194-na-650w/p/N82E16817139101

It is always best to measure the current PSU and compare the measurements to the one that you choose to assure that it will fit into the space provided for it.  You could choose the 750W or 850W in the ad.
