OMEN by HP 880-114nc
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

So after 10 months of using my desktop PC (OMEN by HP 880-114nc) for the last few days my PC / Screen / Audio just lags for like 3 seconds, nothing is responding, audio stops, screen stops, and then it just go on like nothing happened. It happens to me like 2-3 times per day. Does anyone know what's up with my PC? Does anyone else have the same problem? It's somehow ok but i would rather have it fixed to not risk it getting even worse than it's now. I haven't installed anything weird on my PC ever, not doing some shady things, i have a paid anti-virus too.

Thank you for the help!

Thank you for choosing the HP Support Forums, a community energized by solutions!

Is there any way you can attach a video of exactly what's happening? And does it occur on random occasions or when you use a certain application?

While you respond to that, I recommend installing all windows updates, and anti-virus definitions, restart the computer when done,

If the issue persists, update the graphics card, chipset and the BIOS using the HP website: Click here to access the site.

Keep me posted, as I (Or a trusted colleague) shall follow-up on this case to ensure the concern has been addressed,

And your device is up and running again, only in case you don't get back to us, first!

That said, If the information I've provided was helpful, give us some reinforcement by clicking the solution and kudos buttons,

That'll help us, and others see that we've got the answers!

Good Luck.

I'm not sure if it's possible to catch a video of it since it occurs very randomly. And i'm not even sure if the recording would catch the lagging too. It just basically looks like everything (Audio, Screen, Keyboard, everything) freezes for like 3 seconds. It happens to me 3x times a day. The only times i experience it is when i'm browsing google chrome, youtube or watching twitch. I haven't experienced it when playing some video games or editing in programmes. But that can be only a coincidence, maybe i'm just lucky. And yeah i'm going to check every updates but i have the feeling everything is updated.

Thank you!

@Simon38

I appreciate the details, did you happen to check if your feelings/intuitive was right? are the updates installed? If not, please do,

If yes, that's awesome, let's proceed with the below steps to enhance system performance and avoid such lag:

Right-click your desktop background and select NVIDIA Control Panel. You can also find this tool by performing a Start menu (or Start screen) search for NVIDIA Control Panel or by right-clicking the NVIDIA icon in your system tray and selecting Open NVIDIA Control Panel.

To quickly set a system-wide preference, you could use the Adjust image settings with the preview option. For example, if you have old hardware that struggles to play the games you want to play, you may want to select “Use my preference emphasizing” and move the slider all the way to “Performance.” This trades graphics quality for an increased frame rate.

By default, the “Use the advanced 3D image settings” option is selected. You can select Manage 3D settings and change advanced settings for all programs on your computer or just for specific games. NVIDIA keeps a database of the optimal settings for various games, but you’re free to tweak individual settings here. Just mouse-over an option for an explanation of what it does.

If you have a laptop with NVIDIA Optimus technology — that is, both NVIDIA and Intel graphics — this is the same place you can choose which applications will use the NVIDIA hardware and which will use the Intel hardware.

Keep us posted,

(We shall troubleshoot as a team, fight till the end and emerge - "victorious")

To add to whats been suggested...

It sounds like its only happening when using Chrome.

Do you have any extensions installed in it? IF so, try disabling them.

Have you tried testing with a different browser?

Try Internet Explorer and/or Firefox. What is the result?

Sorry for the late response, and yeah i'm using only Chrome and yes i have installed a few extensions. I disabled them all and i will try chrome for few days. If the lagging will continue i will try using Explorer or Firefox. Thank you!
