I bought an Omen 40L about a month ago. Over the last few weeks, I've noticed that when the PC is in sleep mode, the fans spin rapidly for about 30 seconds. This happens once every few minutes. It's strange, because the fans are never that loud while gaming, and I play some pretty demanding games. I have no idea what processes would cause the fans to spin so quickly. Also, the tower occassionally makes a loud chirping sound, one chrip every couple minutes. Sometimes the chirps coincide with the fans spinning, sometimes they don't. It sounds kind of like a smoke detector that needs new batteries. Again, this only happens while the PC is in sleep mode. It's irritating to have to deal with issues like this when my PC is almost brand new. Hopefully it's something that can easily be fixed. I'd like to be able to put my computer to sleep without hearing loud chirps and whirring fans.

Thought I'd provide an update in case someone with a similar issue sees this thread. HP couldn't fix or even reproduce the issue. Frankly, they didn't seem to know what they were looking for. When I spoke to a member of the repair team on the phone, both times he described the issue differently than how I did, even after I corrected him.
Anyway, when I got the PC back, it was still making that noise. On a whim, I ran the Windows power troubleshooter, and it worked! No more chirping. According to the troubleshooter, the minimum processor state was too high.
