Hello,

My pc crashed today for some unknown reason, i did check my computer to see why he did that and i see something looking like a sticky liquid.

Here a photo before :

BeforeBefore

And after i try to clean it :

AfterAfter

i don't know where its comming from, the capacitor didn't seem to be leaking.

Do you know what is the cause ?

Right now i'm using this computer, seems to  be working well and didn't crash since the last time.

Greetings @Hinisan

Welcome to the HP Forum.

Is your PC in warranty?

Keep an eye on things if the PC seems to be okay.

The first image kind of looks like a cracked capacitor.

This capacitor could be regulating power to the adjacent unused PCIe slot?? It would not be wise to connect a component to the adjacent PCIe slot at this time.

I don't think I would energize the MB in your situation.

A local Electronics Tech should be able to replace this if it has failed.

Greetings @Hinisan

Thanks for the info.

The image in your first post is not super clear. Can you see a crack along the top of the capacitor? I think I see a crack.

The liquid near the capacitor had to have come from somewhere unless you spilled liquid on the MB. Plus the PC crashed.

Your in a tough situation. The PC is working but it could be a ticking timebomb if a capacitor has failed.

Don't use the adjacent PCIe slot if the capacitor has cracked.

It's your call but I would Contact HP Support Here to start a warranty RMA. Or, at least, explain what has happened. Let HP Support decide what to do.

I had the same thing happen a few weeks back on my OMEN 45L.. Pc crashed and would not boot only windows and lights worked.. Same thing liquid same area on the bottom of the motherboard..  Set up is 3 years old  and past warranty so after trying all troubleshooting took to get repaired..  When they took the motherboard out it has a glaze of same sticky liquid on the back of the mother board also .. No visible damage at all to the AIO or leaks .. Not only could they not get the motherboard to boot up  the processor a I9-12900k would not work either..  Yet 0 issues with any other components in the build. SO apparently something is wrong because my PC was clean as a whistle I take good care of that and that liquid did not show up till around the time it crashed was done.. $450 in repairs later
