Possible PC Upgrades?

I bought this PC a few m onths back and I have been wondering if I can upgrade my CPU or GPU? I know I can upgrade memory and storage, but I find that my Intel i5 7400 is not doing enough for my needs. And I find my 3GB of vram being fully used up very often on the GTX 1060 3GB. I am confused on upgrading my graphics card since the motherboard is on the opposite side of my computer case, so I don't even know if it will actually fit. I want to upgrade my cpu possibly to an i5 8600k or an i7 7700k, and my gpu to a gtx 1080 ftw. And maybe my cpu cooler to a Cryorig H7. Thank you!

OK thanks. You have an OMEN by HP Desktop PC - 870-224.

HP Desktops are restricted in the upgrades you can do, unlike a DIY build.

You can upgrade the cpu but only to an i7-7700 (non K version) with a TDP of 65w.

No need to replace the cooler as it will be hard to find one that will fit. You cannot overclock it anyways.

3GB video cards are becoming less and less applicable as new games are released.

You can upgrade to a higher mem card, but you must be able to supply enough power for the system if doing so.

Your 500W PSU should be fine for another 1060/1070  6/8 GB card. You need to make sure you have the correct power connections for what ever card is installed and make sure to check measurements to allow it to fit.

Personally, I don't think its worth the money to upgrade that much hardware. If you can sell it and get back most of what you paid, then do so and buy another PC that has the hardware you want already installed. That way, that hardware will already be warrantied by HP and you wont risk voiding your current warranty.
