OMEN by HP 40L Gaming Desktop PC GT21-0000i (392G2AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi, we have an Omen 40L and it seems it is triggering thermal throttle for the GPU (GeForce RTX 3080) when playing high end games, lately happening with Helldive 2, which makes it unplayable. We have tried putting fans to max, and even if it helps for a bit, eventually shuts down. For a relatively expensive desktop, this is very disappointing, are we doing something wrong? The desktop fulfills the system requirements for that game by a lot! Any help is appreciated!

Hi @Raul_LM

I would contact HP Support for warranty service if your PC is shutting down and you are in warranty. Or have a local PC Tech take a look if your PC is out of warranty.

An over heating GPU when gaming could mean the GPU die is overheating due to lack of thermal paste. or the GPU has some other internal problem, or you have a chassis airflow problem.

It sounds like the GPU can't move the heat it is generating out of the case.

So it overheats, thermal throttles, and then shuts down. The CPU and MB could also be overheating.

Regards
