So I bought some after market ram the Corsair vengeance rbg 3600mhz 4x16 gb. I’m stuck at 2133mhz. Is there a bios update that will allow me to use the xmp or customize the frequencies so I can get the ram speed I want?

Hi @Cpt_Morgan04

Welcome to the HP Forum.

The 25L MB's BIOS don't seem to provide memory tweaking options. HP limits XMP options to RAM supplied by HP.

I usually recommend Crucial memory but I think @NonSequitur777 can provide other retail RAM upgrade options that may run at higher speeds.

@Cpt_Morgan04,

When you look amongst HP System OMEN 25L Desktop GT12-0xxx Users here, as fitted with the Dorado or Moria3 motherboard (SSID: 8704 / 87C3), you'll very quickly realize how particular aka finnicky this desktop is with regard to RAM and achieving max RAM speed.

According to these User benchmarks up to this point in time, the best/fastest RAM for this gaming desktop remains the HP-branded Kingston RAM:

Kingston HP32D4U8D8HC-16XR 2x16GB or 4x16GB or the Kingston HP32D4U8S8HC-8X 2x8GB or 4 x 8GB running at 3200 MHz.  I know: the issue is pricing and availability of this RAM.

Interestingly, this User was able to run Corsair Vengeance CMW32GX4M2Z2933C16 2x16GB at 2933 MHz: https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/65787639.  Another User was able to run Corsair Dominator RGB CMT32GX4M2E3200C16 2x16GB also at 2933 MHz: https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/66863993. So, there must be a way to get Corsair RAM to run at least at 2933 MHz in your gaming desktop.

Keeping this short, the following RAM HP System OMEN 25L Desktop GT12-0xxx Users have installed are amongst the best alternatives:

1.) Kingston HyperX KHX3200C16D4/8GX 2x8GB (4 x 8GB) running at 2933 MHz, such as seen here: https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/58539935. Or: Kingston HyperX KHX3200C16D4/16GX 2x16GB (4 x 16GB).

2.) Crucial CP32G4DFRA32A.C16FF 2x32GB running at 2933 MHz: https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/65541123.

3.) G.SKILL Ripjaws F4-3200C16Q-64GVK V DDR4 3200 C16 4x16GB running at 2933 MHz: https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/62978510.

Kind Regards,
