Hi @Lutfil,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

When you've installed new RAM in your laptop and it's not fully recognized across all system tools, there are several steps and checks you can perform to try and resolve the issue. Here's a structured approach to troubleshooting and possibly fixing the problem where your new 8GB DDR4 RAM is not detected in Task Manager on your HP Victus laptop, but is recognized in CPU-Z:

  • Check RAM Seating: First, ensure the RAM module is properly seated in the slot. Improper installation is a common issue. Power down your laptop, unplug it, remove the battery if possible, and then reseat the RAM module. Make sure it clicks into place.
  • BIOS Update: Check for a BIOS update for your HP Victus laptop. Sometimes, the BIOS may need an update to properly recognize new hardware. Visit the HP support website, enter your laptop model, and check for BIOS updates. Be sure to follow the instructions carefully when updating the BIOS.
  • BIOS Settings: After ensuring the RAM is properly seated and the BIOS is up to date, check the BIOS settings. Sometimes, settings related to memory allocation need to be adjusted, or simply loading the default settings can help. To enter the BIOS, you usually press a specific key (such as F10, F2, or Del) immediately after turning on the laptop. Look for settings related to memory and ensure they are set correctly. You might also try enabling or disabling any memory remapping features.
  • Memory Compatibility: Ensure the RAM is compatible with your HP Victus laptop. Most laptops are particular about RAM specifications such as the type (DDR4), speed, and voltage. If the RAM isn't fully compatible, it may not work correctly. You can usually find compatible memory types in your laptop's user manual or on the HP website.
  • Check for Windows Updates: Sometimes, Windows updates can include improvements or fixes that help with hardware compatibility. Make sure your operating system is up to date by checking for and installing any available updates.
  • Windows Memory Diagnostic: Run the Windows Memory Diagnostic tool to check for any issues with the RAM. To do this, type "Windows Memory Diagnostic" into the Windows search bar and select "Restart now and check for problems." This will reboot your laptop and check the RAM for errors.
  • Check with Another OS (Optional): If you have the capability, you might try booting from a USB drive with a different operating system (like a Linux live environment) to see if the RAM is recognized there. This can help determine if the issue is with Windows or with the hardware/BIOS settings.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
