Hello HP Community,
I have an Omen 45L desktop with only one external devices which is a scarlett audio interface. After a few weeks after acquiring the Desktop, I started getting black screens during gaming. The screen goes randomly black and fan go full speed. Sometines also i would have audio stutter /crackling before the crash. The only option is to restart the PC. Frequency of these issues is increasing: it appears in every game now after a few minutes, can happen now while watching youtube. I tried every solution out there and nothing works. My bios and all drivers up to date. This is really annoying for such an expensive machine: a gaming PC on which you cannot play game !
Is there a way to fix this ?
Thanks a lot.

Hi @fv732,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble with your Omen 45L desktop. Random black screens, full-speed fans, and audio stuttering can be quite frustrating, especially with a high-end gaming PC. Here are some detailed troubleshooting steps to address these issues:
**1. Check Hardware Connections
- Power Off: Shut down your PC and unplug it from the power source.
- Open Case: Carefully open the case.
- Reseat RAM: Remove and reinsert the RAM modules. Ensure they are firmly seated in their slots.
- Check GPU: Ensure the graphics card is properly seated and connected. Remove and reseat it if necessary.
- Check Cables: Ensure all internal cables are securely connected, including those from the PSU (Power Supply Unit) to the motherboard and GPU.
**2. Update or Reinstall Drivers
- Download Latest Drivers: Visit the GPU manufacturer’s website (NVIDIA or AMD) to download the latest drivers.
- Clean Install: Use tools like DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) to completely remove old drivers before installing the new ones.
- Download Latest Drivers: Check for updates for other critical drivers (chipset, audio, etc.) via the HP Support website or the component ' sites.
**3. Check for Overheating
- Use Monitoring Software: Tools like HWMonitor or MSI Afterburner can help you keep track of CPU and GPU temperatures.
- Ensure Proper Cooling: Check that all fans are working properly and that there is no dust buildup blocking airflow.
- Dust Off Components: Use compressed air to clean out dust from fans, vents, and heatsinks.
**4. Test Hardware Components
- Use Windows Memory Diagnostic: Search for “Windows Memory Diagnostic” in the Start menu and run the test.
- Use MemTest86: For a more thorough check, use MemTest86 to test your RAM for errors.
- Run Stress Tests: Use software like FurMark to stress test your GPU and check for stability issues.
- Check SSD/HDD Health: Use tools like CrystalDiskInfo to check the health of your storage devices.
**5. Check for Software Conflicts
- If you have overclocked any components (CPU, GPU, RAM), revert them to their default settings.
- Check for Conflicts: Uninstall any recently installed software or drivers that might be causing conflicts.
**6. BIOS Settings and Update
- Visit HP Support: Check if there is a newer BIOS version available for your Omen 45L and follow the instructions to update it.
- Enter BIOS: Restart your PC and enter BIOS setup (usually by pressing F2, F10, DEL, or ESC during boot).
- Load Default Settings: Find the option to load default settings or optimized defaults.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
