Have this laptop HP OMEN 16 since july 2023, no problems until last month.
Then black screen appear randomly when playing game or just after; also black screen after boot with lastest microsoft update; I uninstalled it. Can manage this by pushing power button.
Today after only few minutes playing black sceen appears immediatly and also the keyboard becomes inacive; the only issue is now just to wait for a long time (30 mn or more) and everything goes back to normal as if nothing has happened.
Does anyone has the same problem?
Is there a solution from HP? Motherbord issue?

Hi @Vignette66,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're experiencing a frustrating issue with your HP OMEN 16 laptop. Random black screens can be caused by various factors, including hardware issues, software conflicts, or driver problems. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue.
- Update Graphics Drivers: Outdated or corrupted graphics drivers can cause black screen issues, especially during gaming. Try updating your graphics drivers to the latest version from the HP website or the graphics card manufacturer's website.
- Check for Overheating: Overheating can also lead to black screen problems. Make sure your laptop's vents are clear of dust and debris, and consider using a laptop cooling pad to help dissipate heat more effectively.
- Run Hardware Diagnostics: HP laptops often come with built-in hardware diagnostics tools. You can usually access these tools by pressing a specific key during startup (often F2 or F10). Run a comprehensive diagnostic test to check for any hardware issues, including problems with the motherboard or other components.
- Disable Fast Startup: Sometimes, Windows' Fast Startup feature can cause compatibility issues with certain hardware configurations. Try disabling Fast Startup to see if it resolves the black screen problem. You can do this by going to Control Panel > Power Options > Choose what the power buttons do, and then unchecking the "Turn on fast startup" option.
- Check Event Viewer: Windows' Event Viewer can provide valuable information about system errors and crashes. Look for any error or warning messages related to the black screen issue, which may help pinpoint the cause.
- Reset BIOS/UEFI Settings: If you're comfortable doing so, you can try resetting your laptop's BIOS or UEFI settings to their default values. Be cautious when making changes to these settings, as incorrect configurations can cause other issues.
Remember to back up any important data before performing any troubleshooting steps that involve making changes to your system.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
