Hello, I bought a HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop with a RTX 3060 and a Ryzen 5 5600g, with a 400W power supply. When I open a light game, like Minecraft or Counter Strike: Global Offensive, I notice some rattling (which, I suspect, is the GPU). When I minimize the game, the sound goes away immediately. When I open the game again, the sound comes back immediately. It is a kind of rattling and sounds like coil whine. The pc is next to my monitor on my desk so it could be undangerous coil whine.
Sometimes the PC also makes a sound of one tick, sounds like a small electrical shock, when the PC is doing light tasks like browsing.
However, sometimes, there is a much louder, heavy humming sound. I notice it when my pc is in idle and is as loud as fans but it does not sound as fans. The sound only appears approximitely once a day. It happens after a long (5+ hours) of shutdown or sleep. Sometimes it gets louder but it gets away eventually. Pherhaps there is something wrong with the psu? The Desktop is brand new, only have it a couple of days, and there is a two year warranty left.
Steps to reproduce:
- Shutdown PC or put the PC in sleep mode.
- Wait more than 5 hours, maybe 10.
- Turn on the PC.
- Open a light application like Microsoft Edge.
Besides, the pc is doing nothing weird. It works. I am gaming at 1440p ultra settings and there is no lag whatsoever and the fans are running normally (and a bit loud, but normal). I runned a few tests (CPU stress test, hard drive test) with HP Hardware Diagnostics and they passed. There are also no error messages. Are there other tests I should try, and what could the weird sounds be? Could it be a wire which touches a fan?

So either something was rubbing, but impossible to know now, if not the case anymore..
As for interference, I would be unable to give you a lesson, I know what is possible, a minimum of how is it possible, but from there to explaining it to you, it will not work
Keep me informed, in any case, if we can say that it is finished or not!

hi
Try moving the monitor away, although that may have nothing to do with it.
the best would be to try to open the case of the computer, and try to identify the source of the noise

Why do I have to put my monitor further away? And will opening the case void my warranty? I tried to take a look through the little holes at the side of the desktop, but everything seemed fine, cables look nice, but I could not spot all the fans yet.

The monitor , check if not interference, or something that could cause this
If I tell you to open, it is that no problem for that, provided you are careful and do not break anything of course
We must try to identify where the noise is coming from at least
possibly with an audio recording , so that one can hear

I moved the monitor a bit, but the sound is still happening. I managed to record it though, The sound is very, very soft but if you turn up your sound you can hear the fans spinning and a quick, weird humming sound. You can also hear me clicking on the sound buttons, but that is not what I meant. You really have to turn up your sound volume to hear it. It goes like: ... ZZZ ....
Interesting you talk about monitor interference. Should I try to plug them into different power sources?

I don't think it's change, but why not. .
so you opened , where would that come from ?
With what you say, we can't know if it's normal or not, you don't give the recording, so we don't hear anything at all?

Yeah I forgot to provide the link of the recording, sorry for that. Here it is: https://youtu.be/TdIA0nWqKqY
I did not open the case yet, first I am going to ask support whether it is allowed to do so in this country. You need to crank the volume up a bit before you can hear it, but it is pretty loud in real life.

Yes, by pushing the volume, I just hear a crackling ..
But without the computer open, it will be difficult for you to know more
There is nothing that can prohibit the user from simply opening the box .

It is not the crackling sound. That is me clicking on the button on my phone. I am sorry I could not provide a better recording, I will try to increase the volume of the video myself an reupload it, but it is hearable if you turn up the volume more. First you can hear the fans in idle, then you hear the weird electric buzzing sound.
I moved the monitor to the right and the pc to the left, I did not hear it as often I think, but I am not sure. I would be really surprised if the monitor can interfere with the pc like that.
I have the pc connected to a power strip. The monitor is connected to it too, along with a lamp, alarm clock and a phone.
I am going to open it up this evening. I am afraid it is a faulty psu/gpu, as the sound is not always there and it happens randomly. I hope it is a wire hitting the fan. Maybe the wire drops down a bit when the pc is idle for a long time. It could also be a fan hitting the case. It sounded like a cars vroom.

So sorry, I have a good sound system, and even very loud, I can't make out when the noise you're talking about is.
I hear what seems to me to be the noise of the fans, the crackling, and indeed a noise can be at the same time, but I cannot say what it sounds like, it is very weak
but yes if it is this sound that I hear, it is curious, but it is very fast, is that it?
