  • My HDD died yesterday so I have to order a new one. I could not back up any files and there is no backup disk. How do i install windows when I install my new HDD? I don't see a key anywhere in the tower or box.

Hi:

 

According to the HP cloud recovery tool database your PC is supported by the HP cloud recovery tool.

Using another working Windows 7 or newer 64 bit PC and a 32 GB USB flash drive, you can create a bootable USB recovery drive using the HP cloud recovery tool that will reinstall W10, the drivers and the software that originally came with your PC.

The W10 product key is in your PC's BIOS.

 

You don't need it to reinstall W10.

 

You can also make plain W10 installation media and clean install W10 using the media creation tool.

After W10 has completed installing, you can install the drivers and available software from your PC's support page.

The 3rd option which I would only use as a last resort would be to order recovery media for your PC from HP at the link below.
