I have a HP 690-0024 and am trying to upgrade the processor from a Ryzen 5 2400g to a Ryzen 5 2600. I have also increased the ram to the max 32 gb.
The pc runs fine with the old processor but when I switch to the new processor the computer will start up for about 20 sec and then shut down and restart repeatedly. Nothing shows up on the screen.
The Bios is running version F.59.
Do I have a bad processor or is there any other reason the new cpu will not work?

Welcome to our HP Community forum!
A Ryzen 5 2600 is compatible with your HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop 690-0xxx as fitted with the Sunflower motherboard (SSID: 8433).
Please be advised that this processor does not have integrated graphics, you will need a separate graphics card.
Also, make sure that your PC got the most recent BIOS version: F.60 Rev.A, released on August 25th, 2023: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/hp-pavilion-gaming-desktop-pc-690-0000a/model/22909853.
Kind Regards,
