OMEN by HP 40L Gaming Desktop PC GT21-0000i (392G2AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

whenever i log into my pc, the screen starts flashing and the cursor is constantly loading forever. I can open apps such as google but it doesn’t allow me to go on settings at all because as soon as i press CNTRL+I to go on settings and the screen goes black it goes off settings. Also i cannot see the windows bar with the apps and whenever i press windows bind it doesn’t register at all and the windows search bar doesn’t come up. I tried changing the HDM1 cable, restarting my pc multiple times but there still isn’t a solution to fix it.

@Nojus2, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your OMEN by HP 40L Gaming Desktop PC

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Based on your description, it seems like there could be a software or driver conflict affecting the Windows Shell. Please try the following troubleshooting steps:

1. Boot into Safe Mode

  • Restart your PC and hold the Shift key while selecting Restart.
  • Once in the recovery menu, navigate to Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings > Restart, then press F4 to boot into Safe Mode.
  • Check if the flashing screen and unresponsive Windows elements persist in Safe Mode. If the issue is resolved here, it may indicate a driver or third-party software conflict.

2. Update or Reinstall Graphics Drivers

  • In Safe Mode, open Device Manager (you can do this by pressing Windows + X and selecting it from the menu).
  • Expand Display adapters, right-click your graphics device, and choose Update driver. If no updates are found, consider uninstalling the driver and then reinstalling the latest version from HP support site or the GPU manufacturer's website.

3. System Restore

  • If this issue started recently, you might try restoring your system to a previous point.
  • To do this in Safe Mode, search for System Restore via the run command or start menu, and select a restore point before the issue began.

Please let us know the results after trying these steps. If the problem persists, providing any additional error messages or behaviors can help us narrow down the cause further. We're here to help you get your system back to normal.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
