Hi, should I do this bios update?
I currently have no problems with my computer, I just see the analysis of Monday, of "HP PC Hardware Diagnostics Window 2.5.0.0 do", and I clicked on test computer, "start the quick test" and apparently all is well for the best, then I wondered about the bios-system and there I am offered an update, however does my PC really need this update?
I mean, everything's working fine, and I know that a Bios update is dangerous if it's interrupted, there's no risk of interruption apriori; but should I do it all the same? Or is it not necessarily necessary, and that's pretty random, isn't it?
Here's what I wanted to know, and also by the same token, if it's this software that opens black windows from time to time on my PC?
That's it, have a nice day and keep up the good work!

Hi @Embuscade
Welcome to the HP Forum.
BIOS updates can sometimes: fix compatibility problems, provide enhancements, or patch vulnerabilities.
So BIOS updates are generally recommended. However, I would not use: HP Support Assistant or Windows Update to do a BIOS update.
It is best to download the correct BIOS update for your MB directly from HP. Then run the installer to update the BIOS. Loss of power during the BIOS update or interrupting the BIOS update will probably prevent the PC from doing a successful POST.
Unfortunately your PC can have three different MBs. You would have to find your MB's four character ID (known as the SSID) in HP System Information or Windows System Information in Control Panel, Windows Tools.
Here are the three possible MBs and respective MB SSID used in each MB:
Dorado, MB SSID 8704,
Moria3, MB SSID 87C3,
DoradoOC, MB SSID 8703
We can then check HP Support to find the correct BIOS update for your MB.

Hi @Embuscade
Yes, MB stands for motherboard. HP uses "SSID" to identify the MB installed in your PC.
This ID (SSID) is also used by HP to identify the BIOS update.
Your PC, for some reason, can have three different MBs.
You would have to open HP System Information on your PC to check the MB SSID so we can look for the correct BIOS update for your PC's MB.
