HP ENVY Desktop PC TE02-0000i (3Y3Q8AV)

The support document for my HP ENVY TE02-0042 DT PC:

https://support.hp.com/bg-en/document/c08326025

Says in Motherboard Specs that my socket type is an LGA1200

Then says:

BlizzardU motherboard supports the following processor upgrades (ALL with LGA1700 sockets). What's up?

Intel Core i5-12600K (3.7 GHz base frequency, up to 4.9 GHz with Intel Turbo Boost Technology, 20 MB L3 cache, 10 cores, 16 threads) 125 W

Intel Core i7-12700K (3.6 GHz base frequency, up to 5.0 GHz with Intel Turbo Boost Technology, 25 MB L3 cache, 12 cores, 20 threads) 125 W

Intel Core i9-12900K (3.2 GHz base frequency, up to 5.2 GHz with Intel Turbo Boost Technology, 30 MB L3 cache, 16 cores, 24 threads) 125 W

Bill, Thanks for your note!

And am I correct in thinking only the K processors are compatible?

hi @melristau

My pleasure.

The BlizzardU MB supports 12th Gen K CPUs and some non "K" SKUs.

Are you looking at upgrading to Intel 13th Gen? You would have to check for a HP BIOS update for your specific MB which may theoretically  add support for Intel 13th Gen CPUs.

HP does not normally add additional CPU support to existing MBs but it could happen.

I would not look at an Intel CPU upgrade to 13th Gen. It is not cost effective.

Thanks again. I’m thinking that beyond any 12th gen processor upgrade, a graphics card upgrade is my best next step.

No gaming here. Learning Rhino3D. So, modeling and rendering.
