OMEN by HP 45L Gaming Desktop PC GT22-2000i (83N29AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Started 10 times since purchase in August. Today at startup it does not turn on.
At startup the front light, white logo and fans turn on, after 5 seconds the fans stop and turn off. Only the front light remains on and the PC no longer gives signs of life

Hi @Muxmaxmaxxx

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand you're experiencing an issue with your HP device, and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I'm here to help you today.

It sounds like you're encountering a startup issue with your OMEN by HP 45L Gaming Desktop PC (GT22-2000i). Based on the description, it seems that your PC powers on for a brief moment (front light and logo on, fans spinning), but then quickly shuts down, leaving only the front light on and no further signs of life.

This type of issue could be related to a few potential causes. Let's go through some troubleshooting steps to try and identify or resolve the problem:

1. Check Power Supply and Cable Connections

  • Verify power connections: Ensure that the power cable is securely plugged into both the power outlet and the back of the desktop. If you're using a power strip or surge protector, try plugging the PC directly into the wall outlet to rule out any issues with the power strip.
  • Power Supply Check: If possible, test the power supply with another device to confirm that the power supply is working properly. If the power supply is faulty, the system might not receive enough power to fully start.

2. Perform a Hard Reset

  • Unplug the PC from the power source.
  • Hold the power button on the front of the PC for 10-15 seconds to drain any residual power from the components.
  • Plug the PC back in and try turning it on again. This can sometimes resolve issues caused by power surges or electrical static.

3. Check for Error Codes or LEDs

  • Look for LED error codes: Some HP desktops (including OMEN) use front-panel LEDs to indicate specific error codes. If the front light stays on or blinks in a particular pattern, check your OMEN by HP documentation to see if there's an error code associated with the pattern.
  • Diagnostic LEDs: If the power light is flashing in a particular pattern, it may indicate a hardware error (like RAM or GPU issues). Refer to the manual or HP support website for detailed LED diagnostic codes.

4. Disconnect External Devices

  • Unplug all peripherals (keyboard, mouse, monitor, printer, USB drives, etc.) and try booting the system with only the power cord connected. Sometimes, external devices can cause startup issues or conflicts.
  • Try a different power outlet: If the issue persists, consider trying a different power outlet in case there is a power issue at the current outlet.

5. Reseat RAM and GPU

  • Reseat the RAM: Open the side panel of your PC (make sure it's powered off and unplugged). Carefully remove and reinsert the RAM sticks to ensure they're properly seated in their slots. Loose or improperly seated RAM can cause startup issues.
  • Reseat the GPU: If your OMEN desktop has a dedicated graphics card, ensure that it’s properly seated in the PCIe slot. Again, power off and unplug the PC before doing this.

6. Check for a Faulty Motherboard or Power Supply

  • If none of the above steps resolve the issue, there may be a deeper hardware issue, such as a faulty motherboard or power supply. These components are responsible for supplying power and sending signals to the rest of the system, and if one fails, it can prevent the system from starting up properly.
  • PSU failure: If the power supply isn't delivering stable power to the system, the fans might start but shut down almost immediately.
  • Motherboard issues: If there's a problem with the motherboard (such as a short circuit or damaged component), it can prevent the PC from booting properly.

7. Reset CMOS/BIOS

  • If there's a BIOS issue, you can try resetting the CMOS to restore default settings:
    • Turn off the PC and unplug it.
    • Locate the CMOS battery on the motherboard (usually a small, silver coin-cell battery).
    • Remove the CMOS battery for 5–10 minutes to reset the BIOS settings.
    • Reinsert the battery and try to power on again.

8. Listen for Beep Codes

  • If your OMEN desktop has a built-in speaker or diagnostic beeps, listen carefully during startup. Certain error conditions (such as memory issues or hardware failures) can trigger a series of beeps, which will help you identify the issue.
  • If there are no beeps, this suggests a more serious hardware issue, like the motherboard or PSU.

I hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Thanks for your reply Raj.

I couldn't solve it on my own and I don't want to intervene on the PC since it's still under warranty. I think I'll have to send it in for assistance. I hope it won't take long to have the PC working because I work with the PC and all this is causing me harm.
