Previously discussed with members here regarding upgrading to a dual fan RTX 4070 for my Omen 30l (Moriah 3 motherboard). My next question is that what about the support bracket that came with the computer and the original 2060 Super? Since the new GPU is going to be 9.5" long I don't see how I can reuse this bracket? Will it sag then? Thank you.

Hi @Axis9102,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Upgrading to a larger GPU, like the dual-fan RTX 4070, in your HP Omen 30L with the Moriah 3 motherboard does present a few challenges, particularly concerning GPU support. Here’s a breakdown of how to address the support bracket issue and ensure your new GPU is properly secured:
1. Evaluate GPU Support Bracket Compatibility
Original Bracket Design:
- The support bracket that came with your Omen 30L is designed to fit the size and weight of the original GPU (the 2060 Super). With a new GPU that’s longer and potentially heavier, you’ll need to reassess its compatibility.
Check Bracket Fit:
- Measure the dimensions of your new RTX 4070 and compare them to the dimensions of the original GPU. Verify if the original bracket can still be used or if it needs adjustment.
2. Using or Adapting the Existing Bracket
Bracket Modification:
- If the original bracket doesn’t fit the new GPU, you might be able to modify it or use it in a different orientation. For example, you might be able to adjust its position or use additional mounting points.
Repositioning:
- Ensure the support bracket can be repositioned to align with the mounting points of the new GPU. Some brackets are adjustable or can be moved to different slots.
3. Alternative GPU Support Solutions
GPU Sag Prevention:
- To prevent GPU sag, especially with a longer and heavier GPU, you can use aftermarket GPU support brackets. These brackets are designed to hold the GPU in place and prevent sagging.
GPU Support Stand:
- Consider using a GPU support stand or bracket. These can be placed underneath the GPU to provide additional support and prevent sagging. They are often adjustable to fit different GPU sizes and configurations.
4. Installation Steps
Remove Original GPU and Bracket:
- Power down your PC and remove the original GPU and bracket.
Install New GPU:
- Install the RTX 4070 into the PCIe slot. Ensure it is properly seated and secured with screws.
Install GPU Support:
- If using the original bracket, position it to support the new GPU and secure it. If it doesn’t fit, install an aftermarket GPU support bracket or stand to hold the GPU in place.
Verify Stability:
- Check that the GPU is securely mounted and that the support bracket or stand is effectively preventing sag.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
