HP Pavilion Power Desktop - 580-023w
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello! So I've got a 580-023w that I've just recently swapped into a new case. It went into a q300L v2, which came with a new exhaust fan which I used. I also upgraded to an i7-7700 processor, but had to use the cpu fan and heat sink that came with the i5-7400. The issue I'm having is that inconsistently upon boot, I will get a system fan 90b error. I'm not sure what's causing it, but any help or potential leads to follow would be greatly appreciated!

Greetings @Tor2ga

Welcome back to the Forum.

HP MBs tend to balk when retail fans are used. I am not aware of any way to stop the fan error at startup since fan options are usually not available in the BIOS.

Have you explored trying to use the rear HP fan in the new case?

Amazon has silicone fan screws that might help since the HP fan is probably a 92 mm fan.

I ended up swapping the fan that came with the case for a different 120mm fan. Since then, I've had no error meesages pop up. So far so good, so I'm thinking it was just a bad fan?

Greetings @Tor2ga

Good to see this.

You are the first person, I have seen in this Forum, to get rid of the fan error message when using a retail case fan.

Regards
