Hello all,
I recently took delivery of my new HP OMEN 45L Gaming Desktop. MY model came with the following specs:
- Processor: Intel i9-13900K
-GPU: Geforce RTX 4090
RAM: Kingston Fury Beast DDR5-5200 16GB (2 8GB Modules)
I want to use this PC for high quality rendering, which require more RAM. So, I did as I do with all of my PC's, I went to the store and purchased new memory modules. Specifically, Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5-6600 128GB. Upon arriving home, I installed the new memory modules (4x32GB sticks) and was immediately with failure to boot the PC. Eventually I received the 3 long 2 short beep code for RAM malfunction. After lot of trial and error, and installing the modules one DIMM at a time, I was eventually able to get the PC to accept the 128GB of RAM. Well, the next step was to enable the XMP profile in order to unlock the full potential of the newly installed memory. That proved to be unsuccessful and crashed the PC.
Since HP doesn't openly provide motherboard specifications on the product website, the only information I had to go off of was the advertised "128GB RAM acceptable" specification. Naturally, I thought that the RAM I had purchased was simply too fast/powerful for the motherboard inside the PC (which to me sounded silly considering how everything else inside the computer is the best on the market) so I went to the store and exchanged my memory for new RAM, Corsair Dominator Platinum DDR5-5200.
Long story short, even after matching the speed of the factory installed RAM, I had the exact same issue. So, in conclusion, I am lost. How do I go about installing new RAM? What RAM is compatible with this PC? I've never had this issue in any other HP product before, including my 2018 model OMEN.
For context, I have the latest BIOS version installed. I have attempted to speak with HP support and received zero helpful input, other than a statement made saying "only HP certified RAM is compatible" but was never given a list of "compatible" RAM.
If anyone has a link to some compatible DDR5 RAM, I'd be happy to purchase. My only requirement is that is must be 4 32GB modules, and that is must be RGB (corsair preferred due to my other corsair components, but not required)
Thanks in advance! I hope this helps guide anyone else with this issue, or any potential customers in the future!
