OMEN by HP 25L Gaming Desktop PC GT15-0000a (4Q9S4AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

I bought the HP Omen 25L ceramic white desktop at Bestbuy. Out of the box, it had three non-working USB ports. I took it back and exchanged it for another. The second one still showed USB failure in diagnostics and also had coil whine the other computer did not have(more concerned about USB, just mentioning this). All the USB ports work on the second one work, yet there is still failure to the point HP recommended sending it back to the store for another.

My question is, has anyone else had this issue with buying Omen's and out of the box having problems? Should I just get a refund and try something else?

Hello @nWo_Slick

In your case, I would advise you to buy another model.

Return the current device, you have seen and experienced how things go or not....

Think about the meaning of the term "omen".

Do you understand it now?

Good luck

I see what you did there. Haha

Tomorrow, I'm going to another Bestbuy that has them in stock. This one I have had a feeling about. Maybe the store I went to just had a bad batch. :S

Exchanged the PC again. Same thing.... keeps saying USB failure in the diagnostics UEFI. However, the ports work. Everything works. I'm beginning to think this is like a false positive or something.  I am just going to move forward with this PC at this point, use it like normal for the next two weeks and see how it goes. All HP wants me to do is either send it to them or exchange it at the store, but can't seem to give any real idea of what this problem could be other than guessing hardware failure.

I disabled Bitlocker and my antivirus. I ran the BIOS update and gets around 60% done, then stops and computer turns on to lock screen. BIOS never updates. Weird.
