Hi everyone,
I hope one of you has a solution. So to summarize, I am unable to do any bios update on my OMEN by HP Desktop PC 880-580nf. I have an i5 8600K that doesn't turbo boost, it's locked at 3.6ghz, no matter the CPU utilization. Unfortunately, I cannot activate that option in the bios since it's not available and I cannot do it on Intel XTU.
The problem is, when I try updating the BIOS, nothing happens, the launcher.exe doesn't start. I do not have Bitlocker installed and I tried disabling my Windows Defender and making an exception but nothing works.
Please help me, I am really desperate since I couldn't find any solution online.
Kind regards.

Hi
This site has the latest BIOS update, May 5, 2022: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/omen-by-hp-880-100-desktop-pc-series/1869...
I don't see any W11 support from HP for your PC. The above BIOS update is for W10. Maybe that is the issue if you cannot install this BIOS update.

That's what I thought. I'm afraid I won't be able to upgrade to Windows 11 after that, but it's better than nothing, I'll try this solution and see if it fixes everything. Thank you.
For the CPU, it's the i5 8600k, overclockable, Turbo Boostable, but I can't update the bios, so I think that's the problem.

So, I downgraded to Win10, the bios software works, my pc reboots and does it's thing, but still, no possibility to enable Turbo Boost for my i5 8600k. It stays at 3.6ghz, whatever the load and the option to activate Turbo Boost on Intel XTU is grayed out.
I am really desperate for a solution, I would really enjoy it if my CPU Turbo Boosts to it's 4.3 or 4.6 speed, I'm having some performance issues in new games like Warzone 2 (I know, the game is totally buggy, but still, my CPU doesn't Turbo Boost, or, it should).
Please help me, yours sincerely.

Hi
Good to see the BIOS update works using W10.
The Tampa2 Z370 chipset and a "K" CPU are overclockable but HP must be locking out this option in the BIOS.
I don't see any way to get around this. Maybe the other responder has some thoughts.

no, I have an unlocked model..
but the turbo boost is active
Besides, it seems to me that these are two different things.
Last time in reply to another user, I did a test, and only there the turbo didn't seem to work
no special option in the bios!

Still nothing. I'm sending the Intel SSU report, maybe something's in it that would justify the CPU not Turbo Boosting. I seem to not be able to contact the HP support, so I have no idea what to do.

The transfer you requested has been deleted.

If you’re wondering how to enable Turbo Boost, don’t worry — it’s enabled by default. You don’t need to download or configure anything.
