I'm used to using the Omen Gaming Hub for macros, but a few years ago I removed it when it was having that memory leak issue. I've just rebuilt my PC and wanted to get back to using it again, but for some reason the macro's don't run.
I've downloaded and installed/ uninstalled Omen Gaming Hub multiple times, and every time is the same. It will install, it will detect my Omen Encoder keyboard and my Omen Reactor mouse. I can create the macros just like I did before, but nothing happens when I try to execute them.
I've made sure that all my drivers are up to date, and that everything else seems to be working on the keyboard. I can use the function key to change the pattern on the lighting, or turn on/off the LEDs, and the keys are all registering when pressed, but the macros don't run.
I've read over all the other problems people are having, but nothing seems to match my situation. Also, for some reason it won't launch on start up even when I add it to my start up tasks.

Update: Called help customer support and got some assistance on this issue. Big thanks to Charles who helped me out. We couldn't fix the issue, and after the call, Charles emailed me after him and his team did some digging for a solution.
Solution: This older keyboard will only work with command center, but they can't find any versions. I found a version on a sketchy website and tried it out. Still didn't work.
So older keyboards won't run macros with the new Omen Command Center.

Thank you for reaching out about the issues with the Omen Gaming Hub. Based on your description, you’ve taken several key troubleshooting steps already. I'll do my best to assist you diving deeper to address the macro functionality and the startup issue:
Macro Functionality Troubleshooting:
Verify Macro Execution in Omen Gaming Hub:
- After creating a macro, double-check that it’s assigned to the correct key on your Omen Encoder keyboard or Omen Reactor mouse.
- Save the settings within the Omen Gaming Hub and test the assigned macro immediately to confirm it’s registered.
Background Services:
- Ensure the Omen Gaming Hub background service is running. Without this, macros may not execute.
- Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc).
- Look for OMEN Gaming Hub or OMEN Command Center Background Service in the Processes tab. If it’s not running, restart the service or reboot the system.
- Ensure the Omen Gaming Hub background service is running. Without this, macros may not execute.
Administrator Privileges:
- Run Omen Gaming Hub as an administrator:
- Right-click on the app icon and select Run as Administrator. This can sometimes resolve issues with macros not functioning.
- Run Omen Gaming Hub as an administrator:
Configuration Files:
- Delete the Omen Gaming Hub configuration files to reset any potentially corrupt settings:
- Navigate to: C:\Users\[YourUsername]\AppData\Local\HP Inc\OMEN Gaming Hub
- Delete the folder and restart the application.
- Recreate your macros and test again.
- Delete the Omen Gaming Hub configuration files to reset any potentially corrupt settings:
Macro Compatibility:
- Check if the macros work in specific applications. Some programs (e.g., certain games or protected software) may block external macros due to security features.
Startup Issue:
Enable Startup in Omen Gaming Hub Settings:
- Open the Omen Gaming Hub.
- Go to Settings (usually a gear icon).
- Ensure the Launch on Startup option is enabled.
Manually Add to Startup:
- Press Win + R, type shell:startup, and press Enter.
- Create a shortcut for the Omen Gaming Hub executable and place it in the Startup folder.
Check Windows Settings:
- Go to Settings > Apps > Startup and ensure Omen Gaming Hub is toggled On.
Driver and Firmware Updates:
- Revisit HP's website to confirm you’re running the latest versions of:
- OMEN Gaming Hub software
- Firmware for your Omen Encoder keyboard and Omen Reactor mouse.
Reinstallation Steps:
If the issue persists, perform a clean reinstallation of Omen Gaming Hub:
- Uninstall Omen Gaming Hub.
- Remove residual files:
- Check for leftover folders in C:\Program Files or C:\Users\[YourUsername]\AppData\.
- Reboot your PC.
- Download the latest version of Omen Gaming Hub.
- Install the software and recreate your macros.
If none of these steps resolve the issue, it’s possible there is a deeper compatibility or software conflict. Let us know the results, and we can explore further steps together.
Kind Regards,

Thanks for the quick reply. I'll address each point as I go.
1. Macro is created and properly assigned to an Mkey. After assigning it, I've hit apply. Testing the macro using FN+M1 results in no action. Tried creating a macro to simply press 1 four times. Tried in a text program and in a search engine. Nothing.
2. Both show up under my Apps under Omen Gaming Hub (2).
3. I've tried this a few times, and every time I do, the program just keeps loading. When I open Task Manager, it never shows as not working, but the Gaming Hub never loads. The HP.OMEN.OMENCommandCenter shows up in the Task manager with Omen Gaming Hub as a sub catagory, but it never finishes loading. This time I let it run for 10 minutes, and taks manager shows both as normal, but the program fails to fully load.
4. This folder fails to be created. There is no HP folder in my AppData/ Local folder. While on the subject of folders, I also can't find the folder that Omen has installed itself to. I'm assuming it's under Program Files (x86)/ HP, but there is no HP folder anywhere on my system.
5. I can't get a macro to run under any circumstances. I thought it was the buttons, but the Function keys work when used as F-keys, and the FN key works to change lighting on the keyboard. However, neither the FN+M keys work, nor does the Omen Button.
I've gotten the same download link from both the HP store and Windows store, and neither one fixes the issue. Also, there don't appear to be any specific drivers for the Omen Encoder as per HP's website.

Thank you for your detailed response. It’s very helpful in pinpointing the issue. Let’s address each point further and troubleshoot systematically:
1. Macro Assignment Issue:
- Since the macro isn’t functioning even with a simple action like pressing “1” repeatedly, it suggests a deeper software or configuration issue.
- Next Steps:
- Ensure that the Omen Gaming Hub (OGH) software is running in the background while testing the macros. Without OGH active, macros won’t execute.
- Test a different USB port (if the keyboard is external) to rule out connectivity issues.
2. OGH Apps Appear but Fail to Load Fully:
- The behavior you describe indicates potential corruption in the OGH installation or conflicts with other software.
- Next Steps:
- Uninstall Omen Gaming Hub and delete residual files. To do this:
- Uninstall OGH from Apps & Features.
- Manually delete the folder located at:
C:\Program Files (x86)\HP\OMEN Gaming Hub (if present). - Check and clear entries in %AppData%\Local\HP and %AppData%\Roaming\HP (if any).
- Restart the system.
- Reinstall OGH using a fresh download from the HP Omen Gaming Hub page or the Microsoft Store.
- Uninstall Omen Gaming Hub and delete residual files. To do this:
3. Missing HP Folder in AppData and Installation Path:
- The absence of the expected HP folder suggests the installation may not have completed correctly.
- Next Steps:
- After reinstalling OGH, verify that the following directories exist:
- %AppData%\Local\HP\OMEN Gaming Hub
- C:\Program Files (x86)\HP\OMEN Gaming Hub
- If these folders are still missing post-installation, it may indicate permission issues or antivirus interference. Temporarily disable your antivirus software and reinstall OGH.
- After reinstalling OGH, verify that the following directories exist:
4. FN and M Keys Not Responding:
- If the FN+M keys and the Omen button don’t function, but other FN-based actions (like lighting control) do, it suggests a software mapping issue rather than a hardware failure.
- Next Steps:
- Check in the OGH under Settings > Keyboard to ensure the FN keys are properly mapped.
- Test the keyboard on another PC with OGH installed to rule out hardware issues.
5. Missing Drivers for the Omen Encoder:
- It’s true that specific drivers for the Omen Encoder may not exist as standalone downloads. However, they are typically bundled with Windows updates and OGH.
- Next Steps:
- Run Windows Update to ensure your system has the latest updates and drivers.
- Use the HP Support Assistant to scan for any missing software or firmware updates.
If the above steps don’t resolve the issue, I may need to escalate this to HP support for a deeper investigation. Please let me know the results of these steps so I can continue assisting you to the best of my ability.

1. Software is running. Macros not working. Keyboard moved to different USB slot. No change.
2. Neither folder exists. Reinstalled OGM. No change to macro functionality.
3. Done. No change. No HP folders installed while OGM is running.
4. No keyboard mapping function available in OGM. Tested on another machine, same thing. No HP folders installed, no mapping function, no macros function.
5. Windows updated. No Change. Unable to use HP Support Assistant as I don't have Chrome/ Google. Tried starting OGM with no antivirus active in admin mode, same result as before. It hangs up and doesn't fully load.
Thanks for all the help so far. Looking forward to next steps.

Thanks for all your help. I look forward to any further suggestions.
I can only guess that this is linked to the lack of file folders being created as I've never seen a program that didn't create them somewhere.

Called Support and uninstalled/ reinstalled OGM. It finally created the HP folder in my Program Files (x86) folder. Still no macro function.
Edit: Seems these folders were created by the HP support program, and not by OGM. We did find various OMEN folders in local\ packages, but still no HP folders.
