OMEN 30L Desktop GT13-1xxx
Microsoft Windows 11

Earlier today I opened the Omen Gaming Hub and to access the overclocking tab I was asked to enable a service and restart. I installed it (not sure if applicable, but this was while Xbox app was downloading a game).

Restarted the PC manually after the notficiation that the PC would restart in less than a minute. The PC stayed on restarting (spinning wheel) for a couple minutes. I went out of the room for about 5 minutes and when I came back the display was blank.

I force restarted. Then, I put my PC to sleep, and I noticed that the GeForce RTX light was still on. I was unable to wake the PC without forcing a restart. Replicated issue a couple of times.

I then uninstalled the Omen app, disabled and stopped the HP Omen HSA Service. Rebooted and the issue appeared to be fixed. I tried reinstalling the app and after a second restart where it was reinstalling the service, issue returned until I stopped the service again.

Not sure what I can do other than report this issue and hope for a fix in a future update.

SFC and DISM ran with no issues found.

Hi@erictbar, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Request you to follow the below troubleshooting steps.

Please follow the below steps:

Step 1: Enabling the Keyboard in Windows

Skip this step if the computer does not enter sleep mode or if the computer wakes unexpectedly.

Follow these steps to enable your keyboard to wake your computer from sleep mode:

  1. In Windows, search for and open the Device Manager.

  2. Click the arrow next to Keyboards and double-click the name of your keyboard.

  3. If the Power Management tab is available, proceed to the next step.

If the Power Management tab is not available, click the Change Settings button if it appears below the Device status box. The same Keyboard Properties window opens with the Power Management tab available.

If you are prompted for an Administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

  1. Click the Power Management tab and make sure that the box next to Allow this device to wake the computer is checked.

  2. Click OK, and then test to make sure that the keyboard can now wake the computer. If the computer still cannot wake from sleep mode, continue using these steps.

  3. For instructions on how to update the BIOS of your computer, see one of the following HP support documents: Updating the BIOS (Notebooks)

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Thanks for the reply. The issue is not that the keyboard wasn't waking up Windows, but not even the power button would.

I have reinstalled the Omen Gaming Hub while keeping the overclocking service uninstalled and it is working.

I am still concerned that the system is still overclocking without my permission. In Task Manager, my CPU speed varies from 4.18-4.33GHz despite the base speed being 3.80GHz.

Is this normal for an AMD Ryzen 7 5800X 8-Core processor? I prefer not to overlock so I can extend the life of the system.

Hi@erictbar,

Try using the AMD Auto detect Tool

Updated my AMD drivers.

Then I reinstalled Omen Gaming Hub because it would not load when opened from the Start Menu. This issue occurred before and after the AMD driver resulting restart.

It then downloaded an update to the HP services, and it restarted.

Going back to overclocking settings and it thinks it is not installed, and at the same time having the HP OmenCap service installed causes the issues with sleeping to resume.

@erictbar,

I recommend you follow the below steps and check if it helps.

  1. Turn off your HP laptop.
  2. Disconnect all external devices (printers, USB drives, etc.) from your computer.
  3. Remove all recently added internal hardware.
  4. Press the Power button to switch your HP laptop on.
  5. Once your unit starts booting, immediately press the F11 key. Repeatedly press it until you see the Choose an Option screen.
  6. Select Troubleshoot.
  7. Choose Reset this PC.
  8. You can either opt to keep your files or to remove everything.
  9. Select Keep My Files when you want to retain your data. Once you click Reset, your operating system will be reinstalled. The process may take a while.
  10. Choose Remove Everything when you want to remove all your personal files.
  11. You can opt to remove everything solely on the drive where your operating system is installed. On the other hand, you can click All Drives when you do not want to retain any data.
  12. You can also fully clean the drive you selected or just remove your files.
  13. Click Reset.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
