Hi @NoVa_Stephen,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are trying to update the firmware updater isn’t recognizing the OMEN 27K monitor, possibly due to a connection or communication issue with the setup.
Here are some steps that may help resolve this:
- Verify USB-C Connection: Ensure that the USB-C cable supports data transfer and isn’t just a power or charging-only cable. For the firmware update to work, a data-capable USB-C cable is necessary.
- Connect Only the USB-C Cable for the Update: Temporarily disconnect the DisplayPort cable, as sometimes multiple active connections can confuse the firmware updater. Only the USB-C connection should be required for the update process.
- Run Firmware Update as Administrator: Right-click the firmware updater and select "Run as administrator." This will ensure it has the necessary permissions to detect and communicate with the monitor.
- Switch USB Ports: Try plugging the USB-C cable into a different USB port on your computer to rule out any port-related issues.
- Close Other Applications: Ensure no other applications or background processes are using the monitor's connection, which could interfere with the updater’s ability to connect.
- Update the HP Display Control Center: If you haven’t already, download and install the latest HP Display Control Center app from the Microsoft Store. This app can sometimes help manage firmware updates and ensure monitor settings are properly configured.
- Try a Different USB-C Cable (if available): If you have another USB-C data cable, try using it in case the current one has a connectivity issue.
