What's the largest hard drive i can upgrade to?  Both m2 ssd and sata

For internal upgrades (SSD)

You can install up to two SATA drives using connectors 11 and 12

Any size that fits your budget.  2tb to 16tb will work.

The only problems I have read about are when a drive is removed from an external device (such as a USB-3 enclosure) and put into a PC.   Be sure to buy an internal SATA drive 5.25 or 2.5.   You may need to get a splitter cable for power and a 7 pin data cable.
