Good afternoon,

I own a HP Omen Obelisk 875-1040st (product #6FH15AV- Intel Core i7-9700k 3.6 GHz 8C 95W), I am aware that I have a M2 Solid State Drive Slot available in this unit. I would like to know based on the original configuration of the manufacturer if it would be more beneficial for me to install either a Samsung 970 evo plus or a Samsung 980 pro SSD? Please keep in mind there has been zero hardware upgrades to the unit since it was purchased. I am looking for the least number of headaches when it comes to hardware or software conflicts/issues that made be created by either of these 2 Solid State Drives.

Whatever advice and assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

T.S.

Configuration Currently:

GFX Nvd GeF RTX 2070 Super 8GB G6,

Its specs

It has Two M.2 socket 3, key M (one for SSD card PCIe x4). Thie first one is PCIe x4 and the second one should be PCIe x3. Their locations are on the following image

Samsung has 970 for NVMe PCIe 3 and 980 series for both PCIe 3 and 4. Please select the right one.

Regards.

BH,

So if you were in my position would you choose the Samsung 980 pro over the Samsung 970 evo plus; even if it is and overkill?? But let me know your input and your personal opinion. Thank you for your advice and assistance.

Well, that is up to you, using 970 you may save few bucks, that's all.
