Microsoft Windows 11

I fixed the issue a few days ago after a dozen or so troubleshooting tips and to decided to add the 2nd of the ram sticks I bought and had the problem again. Removed extra ram and still won't boot. I know it's fixable because I just did it days ago but I can't isolate which troubleshooting step eventually worked.

Hi @Corranhorn707

A 3:2 BIOS POST error is a memory problem.

Can't get a picture of exactly what you did.

It sounds like you added one stick of new RAM to the MB which has HP memory installed. Had a problem. You somehow fixed this.

Then added a second stick of new RAM. Now you have a problem again.

It is not advisable to mix memory modules.

Some HP MBs have issues with certain memory module manufacturers.

I usually recommend Crucial Memory in HP MBs for the best compatibility.

Remove all non HP memory. See if the PC will POST using only the new memory.

A POST error may indicate the new memory is incompatible.

Or try removing the CR2032 MB battery to reset CMOS. Let the PC sit for about 5 minutes. Reinstall this battery.

Try only the new memory. A POST error would indicate the memory is probably incompatible with the HP MB.

The hardware is compatible as my system ran fine yesterday. I replaced the ram this past weekend, got the post error and fixed it but can't remember how. As I bought 2 8gb ram  sticks and only installed the one this weekend,  I went to install second stick, got post error again, removed the second ram and am still getting post error. As I fixed the problem this weekend, I know the hardware is compatible, 8 know the problem is fixable because I got the same 3.2 error when originally I stalling the one stick of new ram and new graphics card. I have tried putting the old parts back in, I've done cmos reset nothing is working. But this is exactly how I felt and what I was dealing with this weekend and right before giving up I fixed it, I just can't remember exactly what I did for the life of me.

I suspect that one of the memory slots is faulty as when i placed ram in that slot is when the problem arose, but i don't currently have anything in that slot

Hi @Corranhorn707

Thanks for the info.

The Odense2-K MB has two dual channel memory slots.

You either have a bad memory slot or a CPU memory controller problem. I have seen this problem before.

Can you use the factory RAM in the problematic slot? If not, this suggests a possible CPU problem. The compounding problem is some MBs may not POST with one stick of memory in the incorrect memory slot.

You would have to try a different CPU with two sticks of compatible memory to isolate the problem.

Factory ram in faulty slot.  Same error

Hi @Corranhorn707

You have a bad memory slot or a CPU memory controller problem.

Try a different (known good) CPU with both sticks of compatible RAM installed.

That's all I can tell you.

Hi @Corranhorn707

Hit the faulty memory slot with compressed air. Let it dry. Or use a Dustbuster. Examine the memory slot pins for any abnormalities.

Clean the memory slot with high content isopropyl alcohol. Let it dry.

Try the memory again.
