Hi guys, could you help me with the upgrading of gpu on  hp pavilion tg01-2019ur? I'd like to get 3070( or even smth more powerful), but I'm not sure whether installed psu would survive this or not. Do you have any thoughts on this? Specification on this model is here: https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c07631088 and for motherboard is here https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c07119829 .

@mud_shokerface,

Welcome to our peer-to-peer HP Community Forum!

Your HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop TG01-2019ur PC (42V10EA), as fitted with a Stark motherboard (SSID: 8860), is powered by a 400-watt power supply.

There is a 500-watt power supply upgrade with p/n: L05757-800, which can be purchased online such as through eBay.

However, even when your desktop is powered by the aforementioned 500-watt PSU, the best you can do graphics card-wise, is an RTX 3060 Ti, specifically a model with a TDP not to exceed 200-watt, and can be powered using a single 8-pin PCIe power cable, such as this example: ASUS DUAL RTX 3060 Ti V2 MINI Specs | TechPowerUp GPU Database. Even though the link says that the "suggested PSU" is to be 550 watt, you should be fine because the OEM HP 500-watt power supply is top notch, and your processor's TDP is just 65-watt.

[EDIT:] You may be able to power a 220-watt RTX 3070 model powered by a single 8-pin PCIe power cable using the 500-watt power supply, but you would be pushing it a little bit.

Hope this was helpful.

Kind Regards,

@mud_shokerface,

And a 200-watt TDP RTX 4070 powered via a single 8-pin PCIe power cable such as this example: Gainward RTX 4070 Ghost Specs | TechPowerUp GPU Database, would also be able to be powered using the 500-watt L05757-800 power supply.

@mud_shokerface,

You are welcome!

Mind you, I am more of a (calculated) risk taker -pursue at your own volition.
