Product: HP Omen 870-2XX
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)
Hello,
I have a new i7-9700k processor and am wondering if this is compatible with my current PC. I have a HP Omen 870-2XX with intel i5-7400k. Is it possible to use this new i7 processor with this motherboard? Or would I need to get a new motherboard?

Hello @Callidus29
No, your motherboard is compatible with 6th and 7th gen CPUs via socket 1151v1.
The 9th gen cpu requires socket 1151v2. They are not cross compatible.
So you would need a different motherboard, yes.
