Hp Pavilion Gaming Desktop

Hi,

I received my desktop and monitor today and the monitor came with a vga cable but I didn’t see a spot on the desktop to plug it in to. I seen a spot that looked like it would go but it had a do not remove sign. I removed it and plugged up the vga but I was getting a no signal sign from the monitor. Should I get a DVI cable instead?

Hi:

If your PC came with a block over the port that indicated do not remove, that means your PC has a video card.

You need to connect the monitor to one of the video out ports on the video card, not the PC's motherboard.

When a graphics card is installed, the onboard video is disabled which is why HP covers the video port on the motherboard.

Your monitor should have other inputs.  Buy a cable that works with both the graphics card video port output and the monitor's input such as HDMI or DVI.
