Hi,

today something odd happened. My laptop was charging like normal and out of nowhere it stopped. I unplugged and plugged the charger again and it started charging but just for a brief moment then it stopped. The little light besides where the charger goes in is white when the charger is plugged in and when i turn off my laptop the light goes to orange and it does charge when the laptop is off. However i start windows and the light turns white and the same thing happens. I have tried several methods like taking the battery out updating drivers uninstallling and installing BIOS but nothing seems to work. I dont know if its my laptops problem or the chargers problem. The charger seems fine to me and has always worked. Please help!!!

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

  • Have you tried with a different Ac adapter?
  • Have you checked original Ac adapter on another laptop?
  • Have tried creating a new power plan?

While you respond to that, let's try these steps:

Perform a Hard reset on the notebook: A power reset (or hard restart) clears all information from the computer's memory without erasing any personal data.

Next Step: BIOS Defaults - (After hard reset follow the below steps while starting the computer)
1) Shutdown the computer.
2) Turn the computer back on again and repeatedly tap on the ESC until a Startup menu appears.
3) Press F10 once for BIOS.
4) Press F9 for BIOS defaults.
5) Press F10 to save and exit. this should fix the issue.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
