You beat me to it, but in addition to your response, this feedback may be useful to the OP:

Your HP Compaq 6005 Pro MT PC as fitted with the Hewlett-Packard 3047h motherboard, can be fitted with Socket AM2+ / Socket AM3 processors.

The very best/fastest processor option would be the AMD Phenom II X4 980 * (3.70 GHz, 4-Cores, 4-Threads). Even though it has a 125-watt TDP, the AMD Phenom II X4 9xx family of processors are compatible on the HP Compaq 6005 Pro platforms, as seen here, for example: https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/54118948.

* [EDIT:] With a 125-watt TDP, this processor runs hot. Therefore, upgrading your internal air cooling is definitely needed.  Also, this processor does not have integrated graphics, you will need a separate graphics card.
