HP Victus 15L Desktop PC

I was thinking of buying a used upgraded HP Victus 15L Desktop but was I had a question? What kind of NVME does the Computer's motherboard support because want to install a 1tb m.2 to it. And the PC comes with 256gb NVME m.2 and 1tb hard drive. I know 256gb NVME and a 1tb hard drive sounds like enough storage. But I'm mostly worried about performance and a hard drive is slow and I think putting my games on a hard drive would slow the performance of the game or something. So having more space on NVME would not decrease the performance in games. Is this a good idea or I'm I overthinking it? I just heard savings anything or software on a hard drive makes it slower.

@Bootyman007,

Welcome to our HP community forum!

Without additional information what model/SKU HP Victus 15L you got, I can't tell if your M.2 NVMe SSD slot(s) are specced Gen3 or Gen4.  Regardless, say, even if your PC has Gen3 M.2 NVMe SSD slot(s), a Gen4 or Gen5 M.2 NVMe SSD would work just fine as well, as these drives are backward compatible to the highest generation your PC allows.

Just be clear that if you have a Gen3 M.2 NVMe SSD slot, a Gen4/5 M.2 NVMe SSD will run at Gen3 I/O speeds.

Hope this was helpful.

Kind Regards,
