When will HP Release the Omen 45L Bios Update for Intel 14th Gen w/ Intel Microcode 0x125?

Intel 14th Gen (14900K) processors are having degradation issues (Reported Everywhere). Intel released this new Microcode and asked all Motherboard MFGs and OEMs to update the firmware with this new microcode by 7/19/24. Can we get a confirmed date on when the Bios will be released?

Bonus for HP:

Can you add the ability to reduce the clock multipliers in the Bios so they are set during bootup? Its impossible to reduce the multipliers permanently using the current Omens tools, that is, if you are lucky enough to boot up into Windows. Then we can at least slow our processors down so they don't destroy themselves.

Any response from HP?

With Intel's recent acknowledgment, will we see anything sooner to mitigate issues before another new microcode release from intel?

Hi @gman48,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are looking for the HP OMEN 45L Gaming Desktop PC GT22-2000i and the Intel 14th Gen processors, HP has not yet provided a specific release date for the BIOS update incorporating Intel's latest microcode (0x125). The update is indeed important to address the degradation issues reported with Intel's 14th Gen processors.

As for adding the ability to reduce clock multipliers directly in the BIOS, this feature is not commonly included in consumer-grade BIOS settings and typically requires advanced tweaking through overclocking software or specific BIOS options. HP's OMEN series often has limited BIOS options compared to enthusiast or high-end workstation motherboards.

Steps you can take:

Regular Check for Updates: Keep an eye on HP's official website and support page for any announcements regarding BIOS updates. HP typically releases updates through their support portal and via HP Support Assistant software.

Contact HP Support: For the most accurate and timely information, contacting HP support directly may provide insights into the expected release date for the BIOS update and any interim solutions.

BIOS Feedback: If you have specific feature requests, such as reducing clock multipliers, you can provide this feedback to HP through their support channels. They might consider it for future BIOS updates if there is enough demand.

Intel Updates: Watch for updates from Intel regarding new microcode or firmware updates that might address the issues before the BIOS update is available.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Once we get a date, we can mark the solution as accepted.

Intel released another new microcode before HP could respond to the question. Intel released 0x129 that addresses the degradation issue. When are we going to see the Omen Bios updates?

For me I ask for that needed microcode update for my OMEN by HP 25L Gaming Desktop GT15-2xxx with 14700F CPU !!

It would be good for the community if HP can give some kind of statement as to how they are going to address this issue. Intel has already released two microcode updates and so far there hasn’t been any HP related bios update at least for my system, the 45L omen With I-9 14 900K CPU.

if there can be some kind of announcement made to this community about what HP is planning to do with this that would help a lot.  I’m sure there’s many users like me who are being very cautious and afraid of using our systems.

thank you

My machine sits in the box until the solution is provided.

I am told it has the MSI Artic OC mainboard.

MSI was one of the first to get the 0x0129 microcode update, so we wait for HP to go through their process.

I was going to consider undervolting until I heard it may void the warranty.

If we just knew the 'undervolt' fix reduction was by (example only) -0.0Xv or whatever and it would be within warranty, we could use our machines until the official fix.

*I have only seen some videos on the topic and people doing it on 3rd party mainboards.

The HP Gaming Hub should be within warranty/spec I would think.

Eagerly waiting updates.
