Hi,

I  need to upgrade my pc with a graphic card but it seems far from simple what is needed/required. I really only do it for my son who wants to play Fortnite and lesser demanding games on the pc.

I was thinking of a 730 graphic card to install but not sure as space is an issue. I found one Asus but it comes without PCI.

Since I need to upgrade powersource to 500W the height is an issue, but before doing anything I would like to hear your opinion.

@APKS,

Welcome to our HP User Forum!

This should be a very nice HP legacy upgrade project!

For starters, your Lubin motherboard (https://support.hp.com/ph-en/document/c05400643) allows a standard ATX power supply, which makes upgrading this desktop all the more easier.

The following YouTube video tutorial shows a very nice upgrade option:

You'll need a 500 ATX watt power supply, the budget-conscious GPU suggested by this link is a GTX 1660 Super Mini 6GB. You can get an HP GTX 1660 6GB for a steal ($270) here: https://www.amazon.com/Computer-Upgrade-King-Graphics-Made_by_HP/dp/B09XZCRY28/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=..., see if this competitively priced ($302) GTX 1660 Super 6 GB fits inside your desktop: 6.85 (height) x 4.76 (length) x 1.54 (width) inches: https://www.amazon.com/GeForce-Overclocked-Phoenix-Graphics-PH-GTX1660S-O6G/dp/B07ZGXG8GM/ref=dp_fod..., you get the idea.

In addition, I would suggest a CPU upgrade, an Intel i7-7700 such as offered here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/284830033796?epid=4045596692&hash=item4251316784%3Ag%3A58IAAOSw6iRijvTa&LH_....

Anyway, here is the very useful and neatly done YouTube tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LVlpKg_0B4c.

Hope this was helpful.

Kind Regards,

@APKS,

As a follow-up, please measure the dimensions of your current 180 watt PSU (listed p/n: 848131-800) :

Please see if -and the following links are just example, this 550 watt fully modular Corsair power supply with product dimensions 5.91 x 5.51 x 3.39 inches (LxWxH) would fit inside your desktop: Amazon.com: Corsair CX550F RGB, 550 Watt, 80 PLUS Bronze, Fully Modular RGB Power Supply : Everythin..., or this much cheaper 500 watt non-modular EVGA power supply with product dimensions ‎5.9 x 5.5 x 3.3 inches (LxWxH): Power Supply 500W 80 Plus Bronze Certified PSU (ARESGAME, AGV500) : Everything Else (amazon.com).  -You got the idea.

Again, these PSUs are just examples, mind you -you can search and shop to your heart's delight.  I personally prefer fully modular power supplies, because you can plug in only the power cables you need for your PC, making it far less 'crowded' to deal with various power cables.

Kind Regards,
