Pavilion Gaming Desktop TG01-1811no
Microsoft Windows 11

I've upgraded my HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop TG01-1811no (1000a) with:

Corsair 32GB (2x16GB) DDR4 3200MHz CL16 Vengeance PLX (CMK32GX4M2E3200C16)

But Windows only shows 16GB (while ie. Cpu-Z, HardwareInfo, and other tools say 32GB is installed). One difference that I can see is that my old pair of memory was running 1,20V and the new ones are 1,35V.

Motherboard: Erica3 (87D6)
BIOS: F.44 (07/19/2024)

Any suggestions?

Greetings @Swede78

Welcome to the HP Forum.

I have never seen Windows report incorrect total RAM capacity in "System Information" or "Task Manager". Available RAM might be lower, but not in the amount of 16 GBs, if the MB is using onboard (CPU) graphics.

I would say Windows is probably incorrect. Plus you are seeing 32 GBs of RAM using CPU-Z and HWiNFO. The BIOS should be reporting RAM at 32 GBs if CPU-Z and HWiNFO see 32 GBs of RAM.

I have no idea why this is happening. Is your version of W11 up to date? The RAM voltage difference should not be an issue if the PC is stable.

You could verify RAM capacity and stability outside of Windows using MemTest86 (free) available at this Site.

This fix might help

Open "Search"

Enter "msconfig"

Select the System Configuration "Boot" tab, Select "Advanced Options"

Uncheck "Maximum memory"

Select: "OK, then select Apply, and select OK

Restart the PC.

Hi and thanks for the reply,

I started by running msconfig, but I couldn't change to anything more than 16GB.

Now I have also tried enteringering BIOS and that shows 16GB. Finaly I also tried a new/modern Live-USB version of Linux which also reported 16GB. I guess this memory configuration is not 100 % hardware compatible and as long the operating system doesn't detect all of the amount I won't be able to use the > 16 GB part of the memory.

Sincerly,

Greetings @Swede78

My pleasure.

I don't know how CPU-Z or HWiNFO lists 32 GBs of installed RAM if the MB reports 16 GBs of installed RAM.
