Microsoft Windows 11

I'm facing an issue on my Windows 10/11 HP laptop where only one physical camera (HP Wide Vision HD) is installed and visible in Device Manager, yet proctoring software and Windows privacy settings detect two cameras, one of which seems to be a phantom or virtual camera (possibly related to "HP Enhanced Camera") created by the system. I need a safe, non-technical way to completely remove or hide this virtual camera so that only the real HP Wide Vision HD is detected during proctored exams, as multiple detected cameras are causing test access issues.

@SunilSuthar7, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Disable Phantom Camera in Device Manager

Right-click Start > select Device Manager.

Expand Imaging Devices and Sound, Video, and Game Controllers.

Look for any cameras that aren’t HP Wide Vision HD.

Right-click the extra camera and select Disable device.

Turn Off Camera Access for Apps

Go to Settings > Privacy > Camera.

Under Choose which apps can access your camera, turn off any apps you don't want using the camera.

Uninstall Camera-Related Software

Go to Settings > Apps > Apps & Features.

Look for any software like HP Enhanced Camera, Zoom, Skype, etc.

Click on the software and select Uninstall.

Restart Your Computer

This helps apply all changes.

Test in Your Proctoring Software

Open your proctoring software and check if only your HP Wide Vision HD camera is listed.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
