Hi @AniketGhorude,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your Victus by HP 15.6-inch gaming laptop is encountering crashes or restarts during gameplay, which could be caused by several factors. Here's a step-by-step approach to troubleshooting the issue.
Check for Overheating:
- Overheating can cause sudden crashes and restarts. Ensure your laptop is not getting too hot by checking the temperature of the CPU and GPU. Use tools like HWMonitor or Core Temp to check the temperature.
- Clean the air vents and fans to remove dust or blockages. Consider using a cooling pad if necessary.
Update Graphics Drivers:
- Ensure your GPU drivers are up to date. Outdated drivers can cause crashes in games.
- You can check for updates via HP Support Assistant or manually download them from the NVIDIA (or AMD) website.
- Alternatively, try rolling back to a previous stable version if the crashes started after a recent driver update.
Check for Windows Updates:
- Ensure your system is running the latest Windows updates, as they may contain fixes for hardware compatibility or stability.
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates.
Check for Software Conflicts:
- Background applications, such as antivirus programs or other software running while gaming, could be causing conflicts.
- Perform a clean boot to ensure no background processes interfere with the games.
- Type msconfig in the Windows search bar, open System Configuration, and uncheck unnecessary startup items under the Startup tab.
Test the RAM and Hard Drive:
- Memory issues can lead to crashes. Run a Memory Diagnostic (type "Windows Memory Diagnostic" in the Start menu).
- Check the health of your hard drive or SSD. Use tools like CrystalDiskInfo to monitor its health and ensure it's not causing the crashes.
Adjust Power Settings:
- Make sure your power settings are not causing the issue. Set your laptop to High Performance mode.
- Go to Control Panel > Power Options > Select High Performance.
Check for Event Viewer Errors:
- Open Event Viewer and look for any specific error messages related to the crashes.
- Type Event Viewer in the search bar and navigate to Windows Logs > System or Application to look for critical errors.
- The logs can give more specific information about the cause.
Check for Faulty Hardware:
- RAM or power supply issues can cause unexpected crashes. Run hardware diagnostics by pressing Esc during startup and selecting System Diagnostics to check for hardware issues.

Reinstall the Game:
- If the crashes are specific to certain games (like Valorant or GTA), try reinstalling them to rule out file corruption.
- Uninstall the game, restart your laptop, and then reinstall it.
Consider a System Restore:
- If this issue began recently and after you installed updates or new software, you might want to perform a System Restore to roll back to a point before the problem started.
- Type System Restore in the Start menu and follow the instructions to restore your system to a previous stable state.
Check for BIOS Update:
- Sometimes, BIOS updates can resolve system instability issues. Check HP's website for any recent BIOS updates for your laptop.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
