OMEN Laptop - 15-ek0015tx

I have an HP Omen 15 laptop, and I've noticed something a bit confusing. While charging, the charging indicator light turns white even though the battery isn’t fully charged yet.

From what I understand, the light should stay orange (or amber) until it’s fully charged, then turn white. But in my case, it turns white well before reaching 100%.

Is this normal behavior for the Omen 15, or could it be a battery or charging issue? Would appreciate any insights or similar experiences!

Thanks

@vaibhav_trpt, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Your observations regarding the charging indicator light on your HP Omen 15 laptop are quite insightful. Typically, the charging indicator acts as follows for most HP laptops:

  • Amber/Orange Light: This indicates that the battery is actively charging.
  • White Light: This usually signifies that the battery is fully charged.

However, several factors can contribute to the white light turning on before the battery reaches 100%:

Software Calibration: Occasionally, calibration issues might cause the battery charge meter to display the incorrect status. Recalibrating your battery can sometimes resolve discrepancies between the actual charge and the indicator light.

Battery Age & Health: As the battery ages, its efficiency decreases, which might cause it to prematurely indicate full charge.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
