My OS is technically "windows 7 Home Premium" I don't know if that matters but I didn't see it as an option. i want to be able to play "Baldurs Gate 3" coming out in August. I ran a scan of my pc at a website that tells you if you can run the game. basically i just need to update my video card but there are so many options My "little pc knowledge" brain gets fried.
I have an NVIDIA GEFORCE GT 640. Any help would be appreciated.

Your circa 2010 is not able to play that game at a reasonable rate. Even if you maxed out the hardware.
It has Legacy BIOS, and cannot ever be upgrade to the newer UEFI
These are required to make any gain.
1) Trying to find a 95W max processor. The Phenom II x4 945 is 95W is 25% below spec.
2) GTX 660 is 56% below spec.
3) You would need buy new RAM, paired 2x4GB = 8gb
4) Corsair CX550M
For a machine that is less than what you needed, your spending several hundred dollars.
What is "My OS is technically "windows 7 Home Premium". It is or is not. It's like have a "cold".
HP Envy 8 5010 Tablet

Custom Asus Z97D, I7-4790k, 16GB RAM, WIN10 Pro 64bit, ZOTAC GTX1080 AMP Extreme 3 fan 8GB RAM, 500GB SSD, Asus PB287 4k monitor, Rosewill Blackhawk case and 750W OCZ PSU.
