Microsoft Windows 11

I recently bought new ram (32gb), and on frequency 3200hrz. But when i was checking a task manager it shows me that ram only working on 2400hrz. I went checking bios for acceleration ram. But for that i need advanced setting, but i dont have it and i dont know why so please help me.

My understanding is that only a few Omen desktop can recognize xmp2 memory and allow the advanced to show up. If the memory is HP and not generic the advanced menu does not show up as it is run at 3200 (or whatever)

I have read complaints that a bios update removed the advanced menu and it is not possible to downgrade the bios to get the advanced menu to show up.

What ram did you have that original ran at 3200?

Can you provide a photo or a link to one at ebay?

2133 is the default for many motherboards when the bios cannot read the SPD code.

It is possible that adding an existing stick of 3200 to form a pair of 3200 will decrease the speed to 2400.  This depends on the chipset and cpu.   Quoting from intel

Note that a pair running at 2400 has an effective speed of 4800 since both chip are fetched at the same instant.

Using the windows command prompt, please run the following command and report back what it reveals

wmic memorychip get devicelocator, capacity, speed, MemoryType, formfactor, partnumber, manufacturer

for example

If the Manufacturer comes back  as "unknown" and PartNumber does not make sense then the memory is not HP blessed. Just my 0.02c opinion.

Greetings @TcK11

 Welcome to the HP Forum.

Please provide a specific Product Number to check MB specs.

Some Omen PCs don't do memory overclocking.

The HP: Pavilion and Envy PCs don't do XMP or DOCP.

But some HP MBs will cooperate with certain retail memory modules.

It's anybody's guess.

@NonSequitur777 can provide compatible memory upgrades at higher MT/s if your MB qualifies.

@Bill_To,

Happy to assist.  The OP probably purchased Corsair Vengeance (or equivalent G.SKILL) RAM, which we are, sadly, all too familiar with: this RAM tends to default to its "SPD" or default RAM speed.

There is nothing the OP can do about it, other than returning this RAM ASAP and getting their money back.

Once we know what the OP's PC is, we can look at the www.userbenchmark.com site, to determine which RAM runs best.

Kind Regards,

For what it is worth, this is the type of memory not to buy.  Note the fake part number

I had in my pc hyperx kinngston fury 3200hz 16gb, and i bought the same new ram but 32gb

From what I have read, HP bios looks for memory that it recognizes and sets the speed accordingly.  I suspect the memory is not recognized.  When the laptop or desktop was designed, existing memory was tested. I suspect that pair of 32gb was not available for testing and was left out of HP's blessed list.

Greetings @TcK11

A product number will greatly assist in checking MB specs.
