im looking to upgrade my 310w power supply on my 690-0013w gaming desktop to a 500 watt or higher power supply. Mainly im looking to upgrade my graphics card to the msi 2060 rtx and this is what it recommends. i have a hp part number for one but it wont fit properly and itll be cobbled. i dont want it cobbled

You really do not have a choice, it's the L05757-800 or nothing.

The 590 and 595, and 690 series all need modification to handle the larger watts units.

The PSU will latch on the front support, and 1 screw at the rear will hold it.  The rear exhaust does need some "reworking" to allow full venting, but you can survive it.

Those early models, as mentioned above were typically 180W or 310W. The HP 690-0020 had a 400W. The HP 795 and the TE01, TG01 all grew up into the 500W class.
