Hello, I have an HP Omen 16 laptop that recently started malfunctioning. The display and keyboard stopped working, the power light turned off, and the laptop began turning on and off repeatedly. This mostly occurs when I play games, which was not an issue before, even after playing for four hours. I've tried updating drivers, running various diagnostics, and even performed a full reset on the PC twice, but nothing seems to work. Sometimes my laptop won't even turn on. I've also run a hardware diagnostic, and everything appears normal.

Hi @Ket001,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand your HP Omen 16 laptop is experiencing some frustrating issues, particularly with power and display stability during gaming. Given that you’ve already tried updating drivers, running diagnostics, and performing a full reset,
here are a few additional steps you might consider:
1. Check for Overheating
- Cleaning: Dust accumulation can cause overheating. Make sure the vents and fans are clean.
- Cooling Pad: Consider using a cooling pad to improve airflow.
2. Inspect Power Supply and Battery
- Charger and Battery: Ensure that the charger and battery are functioning correctly. If possible, test with a different charger.
- Battery Health: Check the battery health using a tool like Powercfg or a third-party battery health monitoring application.
3. Update BIOS and Firmware Update the firmware on an HP printer
- BIOS Update: Sometimes, BIOS updates can resolve power and stability issues. Check HP’s support site for the latest BIOS version for your model.
4. Check for Software Conflicts
- Clean Boot: Boot into a clean environment to see if background applications might be causing conflicts.
- Event Viewer: Look for error logs in Windows Event Viewer that might give more insight into what's causing the crashes.
5. Hardware Check
- Reseat Components: If you’re comfortable doing so, reseat the RAM and other internal components to ensure they are properly connected.
- Thermal Paste: If you’ve recently disassembled the laptop, ensure the thermal paste between the CPU and heat sink is applied correctly.
6. Run Extended Hardware Diagnostics HP PCs - Testing for hardware failures
- HP Support Assistant: Use the HP Support Assistant tool to run extended hardware diagnostics, which might reveal issues not caught by the initial tests.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
