Welcome to our HP User Forum!
Your gaming desktop likely does not allow BIOS XMP access, and if I had to guess, you probably installed Corsair Vengeance or G.SKILL gaming RAM, which are notorious to get stuck at their default ("SPD") speed of 2133 MHz...

Of course, your desktop may have access to XMP -you didn't mention what desktop model you got.
I was just mentioning what we see here all too frequently regarding the aforementioned gaming RAM.

All right, that was helpful: your HP OMEN by HP Desktop PC 880-p1xx is fitted with a Tampa2 motherboard (SSID: 8437), probably with an i7-8700 Processor, and a GTX 1080 8 GB GDDR5X graphics card -please let me know if this is somewhat accurate.
Unfortunately, your desktop does not have access to XMP. The fastest RAM will run on your rig is going to be 2666 MHz.
Looking amongst your fellow "HP System OMEN by HP Desktop PC 880-p1xx" Users here: UserBenchmark: HP OMEN by HP Desktop PC 880-p1xx Compatible Components, the best RAM I found are these (incomplete list, naturally):
Micron 8ATF1G64AZ-2G6E1 2x8GB
Samsung M378A1K43CB2-CTD 2x8GB
HyperX Fury 2666 C16 2x8GB
Hynix HMA81GU6CJR8N-VK 2x8GB
Obviously, you want to avoid this/these RAM in your 880-p1xx desktop as already mentioned:
Hope this was helpful.
Kind Regards,

That's why -for show-and-tell purposes, I added a picture of Corsair/G.SKILL RAM in my previous post you shouldn't use: look carefully, they are all clocked (stuck) at 2133 MHz.
