I bought 2x8gb of hyperx fury beast ram rated at 3200Mhz and added that to the stock 16gb that came preinstalled. after installation, windows reported all 4 sticks running at 2400Mhz

This past week, I got a bios update which enabled advanced mode in the bios where you can overclock your memory

The way I did this, was to remove the extra ram. get all the memory cl settings from intel xtu - I used version 6.5.1.355

Then reinstalled the extra memory, went into the bios and added a custom profile with those settings

Windows now sees all 4 sticks running at 3200Mhz

how can you go into your bios and change the ram speed? there isnt xmp enabled, hp keeps it locked

HP Recommended

Following a bios update, when I added extra ram, an Advanced option became available where I could set a custom profile - I didnt get an xmp profile option, and had to manually enter all the overclocked details

HP Recommended

did you replace the original ram for a completely new set of ram or did you just add on to the standard ram that the desktop comes with

HP Recommended

I added to the existing ram that was already there.

HP OMEN laptops are optimized to use samsung RAM. Any other RAM will down clock in speed and under perform. Unless you have an OMEN laptop with an AMD Ryzen processor. The XMP feature cannot be used on locked bios's with intel processors.

So Omen laptops have to use samsung RAM to achieve optimal performance.

Using the samsung ram, your laptop should over perform above 80% bench mark on RAM speed.
